Here’s a unique polymer clay bird sculpture! This original wall hanging features a Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill (Tockus leucomelas), and is guaranteed to be a conversation starter. I (Nancy
) sculpted this hornbill with Super Sculpey polymer clay, no molds were used. The sculpture was hand painted with acrylic paints and a polycrylic coating was used for protection and to bring out the vibrancy of the paints. The finished bas relief sculpture is permanently attached to a basswood round and is ready for hanging in a favorite location.
Hornbill facts: Southern Yellow-billed Hornbills are native to southern Africa. Except during breeding season, they usually live alone. They eat insects, and even small mammals, as well as fruits and nuts. They are monogamous and have two to six eggs in a breeding season.SIZE:
The wood round measures about 9" (22.86 cm) long and 5" (12.7 cm) wide, the thickness varies, but the overall piece is about 1 3/4" (4.45 cm) thick and weighs 9 oz. The hornbill is about 5 1/2" (13.97 cm) long x 3 3/4" (9.53 cm) wide.SHIPPING:

I’m fascinated by all birds - they’re one of my favorite subjects to sculpt. Birds with large bills, such as Hornbills, hold a particular fascination, as do the Shoebill Stork and the now-extinct Dodo. Impossible to sculpt them all, but fun to try! I am a self-taught artist with a passion for sculpting. My love of animals and nature are a part of me and I love to create my original pieces using polymer clay. I strive for realism in my renditions and sincerely hope you enjoy my sculptures. Birds, horses, big cats, and dogs are among my top favorites. Special requests are always welcome.
