African Wildlife Sculpture Serval Art Polymer Clay Wall Hanging Bas Relief Wild Cat Figurine
I love African wildlife, in particular the many wild cats. Their beauty and strength captivates me. This Serval is an original bas relief polymer clay sculpture wall hanging. Servals are medium-sized African cats that live in the savanna grasslands where there's plenty of cover for hunting. Their large ears allow them to hear the smallest rodent, and their long legs allow amazing leaps. They are related to the Caracal and Golden Cat.
This sculpture was made without the use of molds. My polymer clay of choice is Super Sculpey. After sculpting, I hand paint my creation with acrylics. To insure a long lasting finish and enhance the luster of the paints, the piece is coated with a water-based matte varnish. 3-D crystal lacquer was applied to the eyes to add a life-like quality. I painted the front and sides of the panel with a satin finish interior paint. These cradled panels are very easy to hang as the edge fits nicely over nails or hooks.
SIZE: The serval head measures approximately 7 1/2” (19.05 cm) in length and 4 1/2” (11.43 cm) at its widest point. It’s about 1 1/2” (3.81 cm) thick. It’s mounted on an 8” (20.32 cm) x 10” (25.4 cm) cradled birch painting pane, and weighs 1 lb. 11.7 oz (.785 kg).
